Who we are
This independently maintained councillor-elect communication and accountability website is operated by Verlin Wiebe, Councillor-Elect, Municipality of Roblin. It is not the official municipal website or the collective voice of council. Historical campaign information is retained as a dated archive.
What information we collect
We collect only what you choose to give us through forms on this site. Depending on the form, that can include:
- Your name and email address (contact, volunteer, sign-request, and subscriber forms).
- Your telephone number, when you choose to provide it.
- Your preferred contact method (telephone, text or email).
- A location you choose to provide for an issue report, sign pickup or assistance.
- Your survey answers, feedback, ideas, comments, and any message you write.
- An anonymous browser token used solely so the ideas board can record one vote per idea per visitor - it contains no personal information.
When you send an issue report, the site also automatically records, privately, the network (IP) address and browser/device description your request came from. Staff use this only to spot repeated or abusive submissions; it is never shown publicly.
Anonymous feedback submissions collect no contact information.
How your information is used
Your information is used for these purposes:
- Replying to your questions, ideas, concerns and invitations.
- Responding to consented resident inquiries and arranging campaign sign pickup.
- Sending campaign updates - by email or by text - only if you asked to receive them.
- Notifying you about activity on ideas you chose to follow on the ideas board.
- Understanding which issues matter to residents, in aggregate.
- Sealed voting applications and identity intake are retired; no new submissions or identity retrieval are available.
Individual feedback stays private unless you chose to make it public (see the next section); otherwise only general themes are discussed publicly.
Text message (SMS) consent
Providing your telephone number in a form does not sign you up for community text messages. New campaign recruitment is closed. Any future community text updates require a separate explicit opt-in.
That consent is recorded per submission, together with the date and time you gave it, and campaign texts are sent only to the list of people who ticked that box. You can withdraw consent at any time using the stop text updates page - it takes effect immediately - or by replying “stop” to any campaign text or contacting us (below).
What is public, and only with your choice
Your email address and phone number are kept private. Some things appear publicly only when you choose:
- The display name you choose when posting an idea on the ideas board.
- Issue reports you choose to show on the public map. Road reports you opt in appear right away, without anyone reviewing them first. Reports in other categories from known, already-confirmed contributors can also appear right away; other reports are reviewed before they appear. A public report shows the wording you wrote and the location you gave - including your map pin and any address or road you typed - unless staff later shorten the wording, generalize the location or hide it. If you don't want a location shown, choose to keep the report private. The quick report shortcut is always a public map report.
- Suggestions or questions you explicitly agree may be shared, after review.
Consent to campaign updates by email or text is never pre-selected. Choices about what appears publicly are explained next to each form.
Resident feedback, optional updates and voting applications are separate
Resident feedback (questions, ideas, reports, volunteer offers, sign requests) is used to reply to you and organize this independent website. Offering to volunteer or request a sign does not sign you up for updates.
Historical volunteer offers remain private for follow-up and records. New campaign recruitment is closed. Resident contacts are added only with documented permission and are never connected to former voter imports.
Optional updates are sent only if you tick a separate opt-in box, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Sealed-envelope (mail-in) voting applications are closed; identity intake and retrieval are disabled.
Retired voting applications and datasets
Sealed voting applications, document uploads and retrieval are permanently closed. The remaining website-held identity files have been removed through secure file storage. Former voter, household, canvassing and detailed property datasets are not available and will not be restored. Election finance records and independent resident submissions are separate.
Who can access your information
Form submissions are visible only to authorized website team members through a restricted administrative area. Access is limited to the smallest practical number of people and used only for the purposes described above.
Running the site requires service providers that process data on this independent website's behalf: website hosting and database storage (Lovable Cloud), email delivery for confirmations and replies, and, where you use them, mapping features. They process information only to provide those services.
What we never do
We do not sell, trade or rent your personal information, or share it with other campaigns or organizations for their own use. Your email address and phone number are never published on this website. We use service providers to run it - website hosting, the database and file storage, and email delivery - who process information only to provide those services.
How long we keep it
Resident correspondence is retained only for follow-up and applicable recordkeeping. Required campaign finance disclosures remain separate. Retired identity files have been removed; no old personal election datasets are reconstructed.
Access, correction and deletion
You may ask at any time to see what information this independent website holds about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. To make a request:
- Use the data deletion request form - matching records are queued for removal right away, or
- Email hello@verlin.ca, or
- call or text verlin at 431-937-8683, or
- Use the contact form and choose “Ask Verlin a question”.
We will confirm your identity, carry out the request promptly, and let you know when it is done. Deleting your information also removes you from all campaign contact lists.
Unsubscribing from updates
Every campaign update message includes a way to unsubscribe, and ideas-board notifications include a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also unsubscribe at any time by replying “unsubscribe” to any campaign email or writing to hello@verlin.ca. We will remove you promptly and confirm.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page. Material changes will be noted on this independent website updates page.
