I have been elected but have not yet completed and filed my oath of office with the municipal CAO. I cannot exercise councillor powers or duties until that is done. This independently maintained website remains open for community information and resident correspondence.

Your neighbour

Meet Verlin

I'm third generation in this area. I grew up here, I'm self-employed, and Roblin is home. I care about what this community looks like for the next generation, and I have been elected Councillor-Elect, At Large, for the Municipality of Roblin. I have not yet completed and filed my oath of office with the municipal CAO.

My approach is simple: listen first, make practical decisions, and treat every tax dollar as something council has to account for. Residents should be able to see what council decided, what it cost and what happened next.

I'm not a career politician. I'm a neighbour who believes council works best when it keeps listening between elections and explains its decisions honestly.

My focus as your councillor-elect

  • Transparency around council decisions, spending and progress.
  • Fair representation, with residents involved on an ongoing basis - not just voting every four years.
  • Stronger working relationships with our MLA, our MP and neighbouring municipalities.
  • Growth that attracts and keeps residents, businesses and investment.
  • Practical technology that improves services, communication and efficiency.

One councillor can't deliver these alone. The full plan is on Priorities.

How I intend to work once my oath is filed

Two habits, not a second platform. The actual proposals live on Priorities and Open Government.

Listening first

Residents see problems long before they reach a council agenda. I want the listening to be continuous, and I want to report back on what I heard.

Straight answers

I would rather say "I don't know yet, and here's how I'll find out" than give a confident answer that turns out to be wrong.

What I commit to

  • Listen before deciding.
  • Explain my votes on significant issues.
  • Push for evening and recorded council meetings.
  • Push to publish more municipal information, not less.
  • Ask what major expenditures are for and what result residents receive.
  • Support municipal staff with the tools, training, direction and resources needed to succeed.
  • Be willing to say when I don't know something - and then find the answer.

Council decides by majority. These are commitments about how I will work and what I will advocate for - not guarantees about what one councillor can deliver alone.
